Job Description

About the Role:

  • The Analyst will participate as a member of multiple teams who assist clients with accessing capital through the sale of municipal securities
  • With appropriate guidance and supervision, the Analyst will provide analytical, research, and technical support, with increasing responsibility over time
  • Analysts are an integral part of the financing team who assume a high level of responsibility and actively participate in all aspects of transactions
  • The ability to communicate and effectively manage deadlines will be essential as the Analyst will be working on time sensitive projects across multiple teams

Responsibilities Include:

  • Participating in transactions for issuers in a variety of sectors such as municipal utility districts and other special districts, charter schools, cities, counties, ports, not-for-profits and others
  • Perform as an essential part of the team to guide clients through the bond or loan issuance process – this includes responsibilities such as cash flow and tax rate modeling, credit analysis, organizing a large working group of internal and external parties, assisting in the updating of transaction documents, and other ongoing client needs
  • Required adherence to regulatory rules of Masterson Advisors and relevant agencies

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university (business, economics, finance, mathematics, public administration, or related fields preferred)
  • 0-2 years related experience (financial industry, government, rating analyst, or civil engineer)
  • Advanced skills in Excel preferred; proficiency in other Microsoft Office products required
  • Interest in serving the community and a desire to develop a long-lasting career in public finance
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical, quantitative, and research skills
  • Ability to organize, manage and prioritize multiple tasks for multiple team members at one time
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision but also participate as part of a team
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and professional presence with clients
  • Expected to work in person in the office Monday – Friday
  • Able to work outside normal 8:00 am – 5:00 pm business hours and travel to meetings, as needed
  • MSRB Series 50 License (or ability to obtain, with Firm assistance, within 6 months of hire)
