Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) – Full Time
Location : Honolulu, HI
Work Schedule : Full-time with some overnight shifts required
Position Type : Permanent, Onsite

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our team at a major medical center in Honolulu, HI. The NNP will provide direct care to a caseload of normal-to-high-risk infants in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. This position is integral to our NICU, where providers deliver compassionate and advanced care to neonates, ensuring comprehensive support for both infants and their families.

Key Non-Negotiable Requirements:

  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Experience : Minimum of two (2) years as a neonatal care nurse practitioner, with recent experience preferred.
  • Licenses and Certifications :
    • Current Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) License.
    • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) License in Hawaii.
    • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Certification.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Availability for Overnight Shifts : Must be flexible to work overnight shifts as required.

Nice-to-Have Skills and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Local Residency or Relocation : Preferably already based in Hawaii or willing to relocate to Honolulu.
  • Acute Care Experience : At least one (1) year of NNP experience in an acute care setting.
  • Prescriptive Authority : Hawaii APRN recognition with prescriptive authority is preferred.
  • Additional Experience : Familiarity with recent neonatal trends, procedures, and NICU operations.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Direct Neonatal Care : Provide comprehensive care to normal-to-high-risk neonates, including assessments, diagnoses, treatment, and technical procedures. Manage neonatal caseloads independently while consulting and collaborating with physicians as needed.
  • Advanced Neonatal Procedures : Conduct specialized neonatal procedures, such as resuscitations, endotracheal intubation, central venous access, and emergency interventions in both delivery and NICU settings.
  • Family Advocacy and Education : Act as a patient and family advocate by addressing healthcare needs and providing emotional support. Educate families about neonatal care plans and ensure a patient-centered approach.
  • Coordination of Pre/Post-Operative Care : Oversee pre-operative and post-operative care activities for infants requiring surgical intervention, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols.
  • Policy Development and Compliance : Develop and update neonatal care standards and procedures. Monitor and evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements and quality improvement standards within the unit.
  • Education and Staff Support : Serve as a clinical resource for NICU staff, identifying educational needs and implementing training programs to support ongoing staff development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping : Maintain comprehensive records for all neonatal assessments, treatments, procedures, and follow-up care. Prepare discharge summaries, progress notes, and other clinical documentation.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications :

  • Experience : Minimum of two (2) years of neonatal care experience, ideally within the past two years.
  • Education : Master’s degree in Nursing.
  • Licenses and Certifications :
    • Hawaii RN License and APRN License.
    • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Certification.
    • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
    • National Provider Identifier (NPI) required at hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • One (1) year or more of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an acute care setting.
  • Two (2) years of NNP experience within the last two years.
  • Hawaii APRN recognition with prescriptive authority.

Additional Details :
Shifts may vary to include weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts, depending on department needs. Flexibility for 12 or 24-hour shifts may be required.
