Under the direct supervision of the Community Resource Manager, CI, the Jewish Chaplain provides spiritual and moral guidance to inmates. Provide counseling to inmates on spiritual matters and moral issues. Conduct classes on religious rites, Jewish religion and ethics, and other traditional Jewish practices. Provides counseling to inmate families on issues concerning the inmates’ incarceration and rehabilitation. Visits ill inmates, and provides spiritual assistance. Prepares and conducts religious services and administers religious rites. Serves as the liaison between the inmates, religious program(s), and other allied groups. Coordinates with other religious staff members on the administration of the religious program(s). Schedule religious services and ceremonies. Recruits, trains, and coordinates the activities of religious volunteers. Performs administrative work related to the Jewish Religious Program. Prepare memos, letters, reports and miscellaneous correspondence. Conduct telephone calls, and perform general office work. Administer the Jewish Kosher diet program. Explain and interpret the institution’s religious program to community groups and staff. Selects and supervises inmate workers.
