JOB SUMMARY
Maintenance Supervisors are responsible to ensure the safe execution of all maintenance and mechanical repairs for the Processing and Packaging Departments. The Maintenance Supervisors oversee all facets of maintenance to ensure maximum operational potential is realized for the entire factory operation, with a minimum of expense and downtime. In large part this is accomplished through preventative maintenance and immediate repairs of failed equipment. Additionally, Maintenance Supervisors are responsible to ensure that all buildings, grounds, and industrial vehicles are appropriately maintained. The shift for this role will be working a 40-hour night shift from 7pm-4am.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains equipment in good operating condition to minimize downtime.
- Supervises hourly employees (approximately 10 to 25 direct reports) as assigned.
- Assists the Maintenance Manager in the preparation of and adherence to annual maintenance budgets.
- Trains, coaches, and holds direct reports accountable in a manner that assures maximum development and utilization of talent.
- Maintains and improves employee and plant productivity.
- Provides scheduled appraisals of all direct reports.
- Conducts departmental meetings.
- Supports the safety program(s) and departmental safety requests.
- Develops a strong safety awareness and consciousness within the Maintenance Department.
- Communicates all pertinent information to direct reports, peers, and supervisors both within and outside of the Maintenance Department.
- Categorizes and prioritizes necessary work and integrate this into the current workload while maintaining a low but complete inventory of required parts and materials.
- Ensures that the Maintenance Department is in compliance with BOS’s, safety programs, and shop audits.
- Oversees the execution of planned and scheduled work, including auditing performance and quality of work.
- Works with contractors as needed to execute necessary work.
- Takes an active role in process improvement initiatives, employee training, and utilization of SPC for process improvement.
- Supports Processing, Packaging, Sanitation, Quality, and other departments to the extent affected by the responsibilities of the Maintenance Department.
- Coordinates the maintenance of the entire factory, including buildings, grounds, and rolling stock.
- Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of parking areas, and the removal of trash and snow.
- Monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating, and air conditioning.
- Monitors the operation of the truck shop and ensures that industrial vehicles are maintained in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Prepares necessary requisitions to ensure required parts and materials are at the plant site in a timely manner to avoid unnecessary downtime.
- Coordinates and maintains an effective preventative maintenance program.
- Support and develop training schedules and activities for the Maintenance Department
- Completes and submits required reports in a timely manner.
- Other projects and duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Experience
- Three years of related maintenance experience required.
- Prior leadership experience preferred.
- Prior training experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Technical knowledge of production equipment, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and familiarity with machine shop and tools, maintenance, and construction priorities.
- General understanding of factory operations, including raw product systems, processing, packaging, and palletizing.
- Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) – SAP experience preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in time management and managing multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated administrative and supervisory skills.
- Ability to write clear and concise reports, documents, and procedures.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and regulatory requirement.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Requires a high degree of autonomy and the ability to effectively perform complex and technical tasks.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING
- Attend training sessions as required to improve and develop skills that will improve employee relations, productivity, and efficiency.
SCOPE OF AUTHORITY
- Responsible to monitor work areas, area systems, and watch for suspicious behavior and report any concerns regarding unidentified visitors and/or unauthorized personnel.
- Authority to question and take appropriate measures regarding the safety of yourself, other employees, visitors, contractors, vendors, all products, and equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the food processing facility, especially where any raw or finished product is produced.
- Authority to report and/or eliminate hazards to the safety of the food that is produced in the facility.
- Maintenance Supervisors are required to work from a McCain office or facility location and may travel as business needs require (the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces).
- Maintenance Supervisors may have responsibilities for maintenance oversight in production plants, receiving, buildings, yards and grounds, truck shop, utilities, and/or any combination of areas mentioned above.
