Classification: Entry Level Firefighter
The Lowell Fire Department is currently seeking candidates to fill available firefighter positions. This position requires completion of FireTEAM testing with the National Testing Network. To be considered for this round of hiring, the written exam must be successfully completed and applications received by 4:00pm Friday, June 6, 2025. Successful completion of the CPAT physical ability test must be completed prior hiring.

Salary Information:
FF/EMT starting annual compensation $44,593 Starting pay increases will be considered for those with full-time firefighting experience.

Hiring Process: Selected candidates will be required to pass the CPAT physical agility testing prior to the interview process. After the physical agility test, successful candidates will have their first interview with a panel of department members. The top candidates will then have a final interview with the Fire Chief. All offers of employment will be conditional based on passing a physician's physical exam and criminal background check.
Department Overview: We are an all career department with 27 F/T personnel. Our coverage area consists of 27 sq. miles with a population of 14,000. We provide Fire, Rescue, and ALS EMS service. We currently staff two stations and respond to approximately 1400 calls for service per year.
Area Information: Lowell is located in the center of the Northwest Arkansas Metropolitan area, the 5th fastest growing area in the US. We are experiencing exponential growth in our city as a result. Lowell is rated by one source as the number 1 city in Arkansas to live! We are located 20 miles from the University of Arkansas, 5 miles from Beaver Lake, and have numerous Arts, Entertainment, and Educational venues within 10 miles of our city

Preferred Technical Qualifications :
Valid Arkansas EMT-B or EMT-P certification (or ability to obtain by reciprocity)
Completion of Firefighter I & II training standards certification

Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories.
Driving Disqualifiers: No record of suspension or revocation of driver's license in any state. No record of conviction for DUI.
Drug Use Disqualifiers: No record of drug use or possession. Must pass pre-employment drug test.
Additional Disqualifiers: Must pass pre-employment physical and department physical abilities test.
