Position Title: DevOps Engineer

Reports to: VP of Engineering

iPromote () is an established ad-tech company that provides an industry-leading solution for enterprise resellers to sell digital advertising campaigns. The platform, created and supported by our team of 30, empowers resellers to manage their small and mid-sized business (SMB) advertisers of any budget size at scale.

Job Summary:

We're seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team who will be responsible for service delivery, reliability, and scalability. This is a hands-on technical role focused on infrastructure-as-code implementation, automation, and increasing observability of our applications and their infrastructure.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provision and maintain AWS infrastructure, including servers, networks, databases, APIs and serverless functions
  • Create and enhance GitLab and AWS CodeDeploy CI/CD Pipelines
  • Create, configure, and monitor Datadog Dashboard, Metrics, Alarms, and either resolving or escalating with the relevant engineer to resolve any system reliability issues.
  • Create and maintain Docker images used for application builds and deployment
  • Create and configure Akamai content delivery network (CDN) properties and web application firewall (WAF) rules
  • Document common procedures used by developers (e.g. deployment docs).
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance daily work processes and professional development.
  • Participate in code reviews of your own code and the code of your team members.
  • Cultivate a synergistic relationship with developers, who rely on the infrastructure you manage.
  • Promote DevOps principles on the engineering team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Intermediate-level skills in at least one modern programming language.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-starting, able to work independently when needed, taking ownership of both small and large projects.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills for communicating ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Strong analytical, creative problem-solving, and debugging abilities.
  • Share in after-hours on-call responsibilities for production support

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Intermediate-level or better Python skills for maintaining our existing automation scripts.
  • Experience creating CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, AWS CodeSuite, etc.)
  • Experience with Ansible, Chef, or other configuration management tools.
  • Experience with web service testing and load testing tools (e.g. Postman, JMeter).

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s of Science in a related discipline (e.g. CS, IS, IT) combined with relevant experience

OR

  • 2+ years of relevant experience managing AWS infrastructure, monitoring and troubleshooting internet-scale custom developed software, and/or creating CI/CD pipelines.

  • Company headquarters located in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Pay Range and Benefits:

  • This role offers a competitive salary based on experience and applicant’s location, with a starting range of $75,000 to $115,000 per year.
