Role Overview: Backend Engineer with DevOps Proficiency

Harbor.ai is actively seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer with DevOps expertise to contribute to innovative products in the insurance industry. Required:

• 3+ years of software engineering experience with significant DevOps exposure
• Strong expertise with AWS cloud platform or equivalent cloud provider (GCP, Azure)
• Advanced knowledge of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform/Terragrunt or similar tools
• Experience with Kubernetes administration (EKS or alternatives) and container orchestration
• Experience building and deploying containerized microservices
• Strong background in CI/CD implementation (GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions or Jenkins)
• Advanced programming abilities in Python and Bash
• Understanding of security best practices for cloud environments

Tech Stack:

• Cloud: AWS (primarily)
• Containers: Docker, Kubernetes
• CI/CD: GitLab CI/CD
• Infrastructure: Terraform, Terragrunt

Preferred:

• Experience setting up production environments from scratch
• Experience with microservices architectures at scale
• Experience with advanced monitoring solutions (Datadog or similar)
• Familiarity with database administration (SQL and NoSQL)
• Startup experience
• Knowledge of security compliance frameworks (SOC II, GDPR, HIPAA)

What You'll Do:

• Design and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS
• Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters and container deployment processes
• Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines for both backend and frontend applications
• Manage deployments to various AWS services
• Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions
• Support and optimize database infrastructure (SQL and NoSQL)
• Implement security best practices across our infrastructure
• Own production environment management and incident response
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure initiatives
