THE PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM

The private equity firm, founded in 2019, specializes in software and technology companies. With over 30 years of experience, they focus on accelerating value creation through a partnership-oriented approach. They target software businesses with revenues <$100m and invest $50M to $150M per company. They closed Fund 2 at $580M in December 2023, following Fund 1 at $312M in 2021. They are looking for an associate to join their team.

THE ROLE

The day-to-day role for this position will include the following tasks:

• Conduct industry research, due diligence, and analysis on investment targets
• Analyse and demonstrate in-depth understanding of the business models, operations, financial performance, strengths, and opportunities of potential investment targets
• Build and present financial models and forecasts
• Assist in preparing investment memorandums
• Present analyses and investment theses to the Investment Committee as an active participant in firm meetings
• Work directly and actively with portfolio companies on value creation objectives
• Identify and source potential investment opportunities and network with founders and management teams

• Recently raised a significant second fund with "dry powder" for investments
• Strong senior leadership from prestigious firms
• Clear focus on software and technology, providing exposure to attractive companies and end markets
• Young and growing firm with direct access to senior investment professionals and meaningful deal reps / experience

KEY CHALLENGES FOR THE ROLE

• Smaller firm environment with significant responsibilities across all aspects of private equity investing
• Multi-faceted role requiring multitasking and collaboration with senior team members

YOUR BACKGROUND

The successful individual will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

• Minimum 2-4 years of experience in financial modeling, investment management, private equity, or management consulting
• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills (experience with PowerBI/Tableau is a plus, not required)
• Excellent communication skills
• Self-starter with a passion for software/technology
