Job Summary:

The Agricultural Equipment Operator position supports agronomic operations. This person operates agricultural equipment for research and production activities. This person performs set up and calibration of equipment and performs basic maintenance and repairs. This person also performs general facilities maintenance and care of the beef research herd.

Responsibilities:

Operates basic or complex equipment, applies pesticides, and performs physical labor to maintain institutional agriculture in support of institutional goals.
  • 50% Operates, cleans, and repairs basic and complex agricultural machines and equipment to ensure safety and operable functionality and to adhere to established rules, policies, and regulations
  • 5% Applies pesticides in accordance with best practices and established rules, policies, and regulations
  • 10% Stages equipment and machines in preparation of agricultural activities
  • 10% Maintains organization of designated facilities and associated supplies, notifies appropriate entities of damaged materials or the need for supply replenishment
  • 10% Documents completion of duties according to established policies and procedures
  • 15% Assist with care and handling of beef cattle herd

Qualifications:

Required
-Ability to operate tractors, tractors with loaders, and/or skid loaders for agronomic functions such as soil tillage, fertilizer application, planting/seeding, or crop harvest.
-Ability to perform general farm operations of loading and unloading materials, snow removal and/or care of animal facilities including cleaning, loading, or hauling animal waste.
-Ability to perform general farm facilities maintenance or repairs.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Ability to set up, calibrate, and/or make adjustments to farm equipment as required to meet research and field condition needs.
-Beef cattle production and/or grazing experience.

Work Schedule:

Normal hours are 7:45am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional nights and weekends may be required for this position.

This would be 100% for approximately 9 months of the year and be on a Short Work Break each year for approximately 3 months.

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 75% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $21.41 - $23.00. However, final salary will depend on experience and qualifications. -A criminal background check will be conducted on finalist. This position has been identified as a position of trust. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial background check, as well as a subsequent check every four years. This role must also self-report any criminal arrests, charges, or convictions
-Probationary Period may be required
-This position would be 100% for approximately 9 months of the year and be on a Short Work Break each year for approximately 3 months.
